MAHESH AND MANIRATNAM COMBINATION

According to sources, Mahesh Babu will act with Tamil Star Hero Vikram produced by Sun Pictures under the direction of famous director  Mani Ratnam.The movie is said to be based on the Tamil Novel Ponniyin Selvan, a fictional novel based on the 10th century history of Tamil Nadu.

News has come in the TV’s stating that Mahesh Babu is to play the role of the hero, Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan an attractive and an adventurous man. After the emperor’s death, Vallavaraiyan is given the responsibility of bringing Prince Arulmozhivarman back from a war in Sri Lanka, to make him the Emperor! Vikram has been chosen to play the role of Arulmozhi Varman (later known as Raja Raja Chola)! It is heard that Tamil writer Jeya Mohan had been approached to write the screenplay. Jeya Mohan has written movies like Naan Kadavul (Nene Devunni), Angaadi Theru (Shopping Mall) and also has few mythological novels to his name! Obviously this movie will be made as a bi-lingual in Tamil and Telugu.
The movie has generated more interest right from the start becasue of its subject matter. Sun Pictures, who recently produced the Rs.150 crore Robo, is aware that this will be yet another high budgeted film.
